Review: Only When It's Us, Chloe Liese

Enemies to lovers you say? I’m here for the ride!

Ryder and Willa hate each other at first sight. But thanks to an intrusive professor who pairs them together they relationship changes for the better. Between misunderstandings, pranks and heartbreak their relationship evolves to friendship and it is beautiful and funny to read.

But who are those elusive MC? Willa is an athlete student who lives for two things: soccer and her sick mom, that’s all she has been able to rely on her entire life. When one is taken away from her she doesn’t know how to react and this stubborn, headstrong woman goes into hiding. Willa’s character is reliable through her many emotions. It was easy to laugh and cry with her and even fall in love through her.

Ryder, you could say, is Willa’s opposite he is quiet, patient and broken. A few years ago he lost his hearing and his dream to become a professional soccer player. This situation made him vulnerable and he hid from everyone until Willa came into his life and accepted him for who he is.

The only reproach I have is that the ending felt dragged out.

Only When It’s Us is hot and serious. It deals with sickness and death and more heartbreak that is allowed. But fear not, the main story is still the love story and what a story it is!
