Review: Of Curses and Kisses, Sandhya Menon

Rating: 2/5

It won’t take long: I DIDN’T LIKE THIS BOOK! Sad but true and for a Beauty and The Best retelling I’m really disappointed that I won’t add this one to my collection. The story and the characters were dull: An Indian princess, Jaya Rao, wants revenge for her little sister who was wronged. The Emerson family stole a diamond, think they are cursed and that the last-born Grey Emerson will die on his 18th birthday. They not by accident end up at the same boarding school and oh surprise fall in love.

Of course, we had to find some elements of Beauty and the Beast: Jaya is wearing a rose diamond necklace offered by her beloved father which fall one by one until Grey’s 18th birthday. She is described as the perfect daughter who would do anything for her parents. Grey is cursed and thinks he is going to die on his 18th birthday, unless he is able to return the necklace to his rightful place.
The characters had no chemistry, they didn’t make sense and honestly thinking about them still is giving me a headache.

BORING, BORING, BORING… I only gave it two stars because the writing was good.
